Crafting a Magical Talisman of Protection from Assholes

When my friends invited me to their housewarming party, I knew just what to make: a hand-painted live-edge basswood Evil Eye plaque with built-in Aegishjalmur — naturally. Duh! After painting the protection icon for their home, I inscribed it on the back with a home-blessing poem that I remember from my great grandparents' farm.

The entire thing was crafted with love and an ongoing intent of harmony, prosperity, and joy for their new home. I chose a live-edge log for the basis of my painting because my friend Adam, one of the recipients, is an extremely talented woodworker who crafts beautiful wooden drinking vessels that retain their natural bark.

May this gift bring their happy little family joy and protection for years to come.
